Balanced offense plus intense defense equalled the first win of the year for the Chattahoochee Valley women’s basketball team, 72-59 Thursday over Albany Tech in Key Hall.
It also was the initial victory for new coach Dusty Perdue, whose Lady Pirates opened the season Tuesday with a 73-71 loss at home to three-time defending Region 17 champion Middle Georgia.
“We don’t have one superstar, so we have to play as a team,” Perdue said.
Kacey Frazier and Selena Wright led four Lady Pirates in double figures with 13 points each. Frazier grabbed nine rebounds, and Wright added five steals.
“With our full-court pressure, they weren’t able to get the ball inside,” Perdue said. “Our guards stepped up and played well.”
The result of the CVCC men’s game Thursday wasn’t reported.
