HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — In a penalty-filled game, the Columbus Cottonmouths lost to the Huntsville Havoc 4-2 Friday night.

The Cottonmouths trailed 3-0 before their comeback fell short. Jesse Cole delivered a power-play goal, assisted by Levi Lind and Orrin Hergott, for the Snakes at 8:41 of the second period. Lind and Tim Hockley set up Kyle Lundale’s score at 11:51 of the third period to get Columbus within one. The Snakes pulled goalie Ian Vigier in the final minute for an extra attacker, but the Havoc found the empty net. Vigier made 21 saves on 24 shots; Mark Sibbald turned away 15 of the 17 shots he faced for Huntsville.

The Snakes play tonight at Pensacola.
