Lake homes are extremely sought after because of their laid-back atmosphere, beautiful views and endless fun.

However, the cost might deter the average buyer from living their dream in a lake home.

But there’s still good news: not all lake towns will break the bank. Go Banking Rates compiled a list of the most affordable lake towns in America. The even better news? One Georgia town made the list. Here’s what to know:

Which lake town is the most affordable in GA?

According to the list, Augusta, Georgia is one of the most affordable places to get a lake home. Go Banking Rates found that the monthly cost of living in Augusta is $2,936 and the average value for a single-family home is $174,452. To afford this lifestyle in Augusta, folks need a median household income of $53,134.

“The home of golf’s famed Masters Tournament and numerous other attractions, Augusta sits along the border with South Carolina. The area features multiple lakes, including Clarks Hill Lake and Dam and its 1,200 miles of shoreline,” said J. David Herman with Go Banking Rates.

Herman also noted that monthly mortgages average around $1,000 in Augusta. Not too bad for living on the lake.

In addition to lake life, Augusta also offers residents plenty of parks, festivals, seasonal celebrations and more.
