Hip-hop stars Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, others coming to Columbus Civic Center in 2022
Several notable hip-hop artists are coming to Columbus in early 2022 as part of a nationwide tour.
Rick Ross, 2 Chains, Jeezy, Fabolous, Trina and D.J. Drama are performing at the Columbus Civic Center Feb. 3, 2022, during the Legendz on the Streetz Tour, which includes stops in Memphis, Tn., and Tampa, Fl.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, according to a Facebook post from the Civic Center. Tickets are available at the box office and through Ticketmaster.
The Civic Center’s box office hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
It’s being billed as “one of the most iconic tours of all time,” according to a statement to the Memphis Commercial Appeal from concert promoters We Are Live Entertainment.
The arena has hosted big music names before, like country band Rascal Flatts, Chris Stapleton and R. Kelly.
Ross has performed at the Civic Center in the past with Yo Gotti and Plies.
Upgrades could bring more concerts
“Major capital upgrades” are in the works, according to Civic Center Director Rob Landers, that city officials hope modernize the 25-year-old arena and attract more big names:
- A new roof
- A new HVAC system
- Telescopic seating
- Sound system upgrades
- LED lighting boards
- Wi-Fi upgrades.
Construction is expected to begin in 2023, Landers previously told the L-E.
