Costume conundrum time for partiers

The question weighs on you daily, challenging your most fundamental life philosophies.

Will you dress up for Halloween?

Go ahead, laugh. But somewhere, there’s likely a young woman contemplating a drastic career change that involves a costume dubbed “FBI Agent Mia Babe.”

Halloween always carries some costume conundrums for adults, and party goers could have less incentive to dress up this year since the holiday falls on a Sunday.

Then again, there likely won’t be a shortage of parties on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Staff members at adult costume retailer Night Moves (2723 Manchester Expressway) say mafia getups, cat costumes and sports uniforms are popular for women. The store specializes in women’s costumes, but includes some costumes for men.

Costumes come with an obvious share of potential drawbacks: immobility, body temperature issues and the harsh realization that a “Trouble at School” costume isn’t too flattering when you don’t match the body proportions of the model on the package.

The lure of dressing up is equally strong, however.

You think about costume contests. Compliments. The thrill of avoiding your ex by sporting a black wig. Unfortunately, savoring a Mia Babe alter ego is ultimately a personal decision.
