"Pretty Little Liars" Season 1 Episode 20 aired March 7 on ABC Family. Here's a recap of the show.
When the show kicks off, Spencer remains a suspect in Alison’s death. The cops get a search warrant and take a bunch of Spencer’s stuff.
Aria’s parents might be getting back together. Amid her bliss, Aria mistakenly sends a flirty text message to her mom. Naturally, it’s intended to go to Mr. Fitz. Her mom tries to guess the identity of Aria’s crush. Things get really uncomfortable really quickly.
Her mom drops the issue, but later tells Aria’s dad about it. He gets totally worried. It sparks a major fight between Aria’s parents.
In other romantic news, things are still hot and heavy between Caleb and Hanna. Hanna finds a cute little owl pin in Caleb’s backpack and assumes she’ll get it as a gift. Later, Aria and Emily overhear Caleb having a very mysterious phone conversation. They think he’s seeing another girl.
Hanna refuses to believe them. With that, Jenna walks by – wearing the owl pin from Caleb’s backpack. Spencer spies on Jenna and learns the owl pin is actually a flash drive.
With that, Hanna stalks Caleb and learns his locker combination is the mysterious 214. Caleb confesses that Jenna paid him to spy on Hanna. She kicks him out of the house and later slaps Jenna in the bathroom.
On an awkward note, Paige is hanging out with Hanna’s ex (Sean). Emily gets a little upset when Paige agrees to go out with Sean. The date is a little anticlimactic. Paige tells Emily she’s not interested in Sean. Emily encourages Paige to come out of the closet. They kiss.
Since they’re both outcasts, Toby and Spencer’s romance continues to bloom. Toby tells Spencer there’s an undercover cop outside her house. He tells her to give them coffee so it looks like she’s not afraid of them. Toby feels a little responsible for the Hanna/Caleb situation.
Later, Spencer has an awkward dark room conversation with Ian. He wants to help Spencer run away. She refuses.
As the episode concludes, Spencer’s mom says the cops found suspicious fibers on Spencer’s stuff. Not good at all.
The show ends with “A” breaking a glass heart labeled “Hanna.” Also, “A” writes a note to Hanna: “Try putting it back together. Kisses.”
