The Ledger-Enquirer live blogged the Amazing Race Season 18 Episode 6, which first aired March 27, 2011. See a full recap below:
Jet and Cord leave first. They must travel to the Jin Fu Yi Zian tea shop, where they'll do a tea tasting. Phil points out that the tea they taste will play a role later on in this leg of the race.
Gary and Mallory make it to the shop first, though the cowboys aren't far behind. Gary and Mallory learn they must fly to Kolkata India, where they must go to the town hall for their next clue.
Ron and Christina ask, in Chinese, what type of tea it is. They learn that it's papaya mango.
They teams fly to India, land and run out into a massive crowd outside the area. They all find cabs and race to town hall. The cowboys have a cab driver that's speeding past the other cabs, and they wave as they pass by. Ron and Christina almost get hit by a truck.
The teams arrive at town hall, but the sign says it doesn't open until 10 a.m. The Globetrotters get to the closed gate before a few other teams, and when Gary and Mallory arrive, they urge them to run fast to the clue box and sign in. Mallory is completely fooled as she races off into the night and everyone laughs.
At 10 a.m., the gates open and the teams race to the clue box inside. They find their Roadblock: Team members must participate in the ancient art of tea tasting. They'll get a mango and a papaya from nearby tables and a block of tea, which they then give to a "tea master." Then they search among hundreds of bowls of tea, tasting as they go to determine if they've picked the correct tea.
Ron figures it out first and opens the bottle of tea he receives, finding his next clue under the bottle cap. He and Christina now head off to the Tiwari Tea Stall, where they'll get their next clue.
The cowboys get it next and they find the clue under the cap. Kisha and Jen are next to pick the correct tea, though they don't open the bottle and start asking people if they know where Snapple is made.
Mallory finally gets it. She and Gary are fifth place.
Zev gets so angry he throws one of the tasting bowls to the ground, breaking it. However, by blind luck, he then picks the correct tea and is in sixth place. Luke, meanwhile, is telling his mother that he can't keep tasting the tea.
Ron and Christina decide they need to switch cabs. Kisha and Jen are on a wild chase looking for the Snapple factory, and the cowboys appear to be on the right track. The goth kids get there first and learn the leg's Detour: Hindu Art or Bengali Literature.
In Art, the teams must go to a statuary shop, where they will paint, dress and decorate a Hindu god. Once done correctly, they'll get their next clue.
In Lit, they must go to a bookstore where they'll get eight stacks of children's books. They'll put the books in a small car shaped like a tiny school bus, get inside the tiny cart and be bicycled to the correct school and deliver them to the headmistress, where they'll get their next clue.
Ron and Christina are third place. Kisha and Jen are fourth place. Jet and Cord are fifth place. Zev and Justin are sixth place.
Ron and Christina are at art. Gary and Mallory do Lit.
The Globetrotters finally get the correct tea, look at the bottom of the cap and head off to the tea stall. Luke, meanwhile, is crying because he says it's too hard.
Gary and Mallory deliver the books and learn that the Pit Stop is at the Fountain of Joy, which is in the city's largest park.
Luke, through the tears, finally finds the correct tea and they get their clue.
The Globetrotters are in seventh place. The goth kids just finished painting their god and get their clue to the Pit Stop. They are in second place. Kisha and Jen are third. Zev and Justin are fifth. Jet and Cord are sixth.
Gary and Mallory are first place. They win an Indian feast while being entertained by Baliwood dancers, and over $20,000 to share.
The rest of the teams are stuck in a really bad traffic jam. The goth kids are annoying their cabbie as they keep telling him where to go.
Jet and Cord are second. Ron and Christina are third. Zev and Justin are fourth. Kent and Vyxsin are fifth.
The Globetrotters finish painting their god, get their clue and race off.
Kisha and Jen are sixth.
It's a race between the Globetrotters and Margie and Luke. The Globetrotters are seventh.
Margie and Luke are last place and are eliminated from the Amazing Race.
