Big Brother 13 winner: Rachel Reilly, Adam Poch or Porsche Briggs will win Big Brother 2011
Rachel Reilly won Big Brother Season 13 by a vote of 4-3. Porsche Briggs came in second place.
The Ledger-Enquirer live blogged the final episode of Big Brother Season 13, which first aired Sept. 14, 2011. See a full recap below:
The final episode of Season 13 starts off where we left off last week, with the three remaining contestants participating in the first of three tasks that will determine the next, and last, head of household.
Rachel Reilly, Adam Poch and Porsche Briggs are holding onto different prongs of a massive egg beater that's spinning around in a huge bowl of butter. Whoever holds on the longest advances to the third challenge while the two losers must battle it out for a shot at making it to the third round.
Naturally, Adam falls off first, because he has no upper body strength. He lasts around 25 minutes. Porsche does a little better, but the mixer's spinning is about to make her ill. She falls off.
That makes the hated Rachel the winner of the first part of the three-part challenge.
On to Part II: an underwater maze. The contestants must arrange cardboard cutouts resembling the season's head of households in the correct chronological order while underwater. Problem is, the contestant must move the cutouts through a maze when putting them in the correct order.
Porsche goes first, though she's unhappy with her performance. Adam moves fast, but he gets very winded.
Adam does it in 6 minutes and 3 seconds. Porsche does it in 3 minutes and 50 seconds. Porsche and Rachel will now face off for the final HOH.
Next on the agenda: The six existing members of the jury are having meaningless drama about how they feel about the remaining three houseguests, which tells the viewer how they'll vote. Rachel has a guaranteed three votes already with Jordan, Jeff and Brendon.
On to the final part of the HOH competition. Rachel and Porsche must correctly complete a phrase said by a houseguest during an interview.
Porsche does a poor job of figuring out what the various houseguests said in their interview, and the hated Rachel wins the final HOH.
Now, the final elimination ceremony. Rachel gets to remove one houseguest and take the remaining person to the final two. Porsche makes a lame speech but Adam completely rips into Porsche, calls her a floater and someone who was never loyal the whole time.
Rachel has a final-two deal with Porsche. But is it in her best interest to keep her? What's she going to do?
The hated Rachel, who did not earn her spot in the house, chooses ... Adam.
Rachel tells Adam that she made a deal with Porsche, there are hugs all around, Adam delivers his barbaric yawp and then he leaves the house for his interview with Chenbot.
Adam tells Julie that Rachel made the right choice because if he was in the final two, he would have won. Because three guaranteed votes for Rachel out of seven mean Adam really had a shot. Right.
The jury makes its entrance and has a seat before the live audience. There's an empty chair, because Adam hasn't yet appeared. Moments later, Adam walks in and the despised Brenden does a couple of fist pumps. Must have learned how to do that in grad school.
Chenbot explains that the jury gets to ask a few questions before voting. Here we go:
Brendon: Some think Rachel said some hateful things. Why should you be rewarded?
Rachel: I should be rewarded based on gameplay. I'm a fighter, I won four HOHs, two POVs. "You've got to base this decision on gameplay."
Jordan: Porsche, some people think all you did was wear a bikini and cook. Why should you win?
Porsche: I chose to play a social game. "I did not just wear a bikini."
Kahlia: Rachel, what did you do to win this game other than win competitions?
Rachel: I was a major target the whole game, yet I'm still here.
Shelly: Porsche, when did you start playing the game and what were your big moves?
Porsche: I started Day 1. I chose to accept the golden key and sit out of competitions. I've made big game moves.
The remaining houseguests now give their speech:
Rachel: Thanks to all. I've been one of the biggest targets, blah blah blah, I had to win HOH or POV, I had to compete my heart out. I made a couple of big moves, including eliminating Kahlia, because she would have won (shameless pandering for a vote). I stayed true to my alliance, etc., etc.
Porsche: You voted for me Week 1 to stay in the game. I competed as hard as I could, I played a social game, I won POVs, I won an HOH. You can respect people in this game and hopefully it pays off. I want to do something good with the money.
Now, the vote: Brendan is obvious, Dani is catty, everyone else is pretty much coy about their votes. Adam's already making noises about coming back for an "All Stars" season.
A quick pause before the results. Chenbot talks to those houseguests who didn't make the jury. Evil Dick said the veteran alliance could have been the strongest in Big Brother history, except that his daughter, Dani, destroyed it. She disagrees. Dick says Dani's move to eliminiate Jeff was too hard, too fast.
Cassi said she was surprised by how cute Adam is behind his beard. Nice.
Jeff says he's moved on from the angst involving Shelly.
Kahlia says she held her tongue for a long time. Kahlia says she was no one's puppet.
Jeff says he doesn't dislike Dani. Wait, yes he does. But it is just a game, and he's moved on.
Chenbot then teases us with the viewer's choice award, which gets the winner $25,000.
It's vote counting time! The winner gets $500,000 and second place gets $50,000. Here's the votes:
Brendon: Rachel
Dani: Porsche
Jeff: Rachel
Shelly: Rachel
Kahlia: Porsche
Jordan: Rachel
The hated and despised Rachel wins Big Brother Season 13. America weeps silently as an era officially ends.
For the record, Adam voted for Porsche.
And the winner of the viewers choice award: Jeff, who is only slightly less despised than Rachel.
That's it. Big Brother is over for another year.
