Amazing Race 2011: Who got eliminated in the Amazing Race Season 19 Episode 3?
The Ledger-Enquirer live blogged the Amazing Race Season 19 Episode 3, which first aired Oct. 9, 2011. See a full recap below:
Andy and Tommy come in first place. Kaylani and Lisa are last place and are eliminated from the Amazing Race.
The nine remaining teams get their first clue on the third leg of the race. They learn they must join a Colonial Bike Ride. Riding in uniform and in formation, they must ride bicycles to their next clue.
Snowboarders Andy and Tommy are first. Ernie and Cindy are fourth. Everyone leaves within about 30 minutes of each other.
Andy and Tommy reach their destination and get the next clue: They now leave the big city and head to a restaurant in Salakmalang Village. The snowboarders hop in a cab and get on the road.
Amani and Marcus, of Pine Mountain, Ga, fame, are the last to start this leg. Thankfully, Ernie and Cindy and having bicycle issues while Jennifer or Justin and Jennifer plows into a fence.
However, it seems that Ernie and Cindy are the big losers as all the teams behind them quickly pass by. Cindy gets that anguished face as Amani and Marcus are almost about to swoop past.
Most of the teams are now searching for taxis and on their way to the restaurant in the small village. Ernie and Cindy are in eighth place. Amani and Marcus are in last place.
Andy and Tommy arrive at the restaurant first and learn the Detour: Rice Field or Grass Fed.
In Rice Field, teams must deliver midday meals to field workers. They then must plant 300 rice seedlings. Once done to a worker's satisfaction, they then get their next clue.
In Grass Fed, teams must fill two large bags full of grass. They must then get two sheep and bring the sheep and the grass to a shed. After that, they must fill six buckets full of water from a well. Once completely done, they'll get their next clue.
Andy and Tommy opt for Grass Fed. They've got the grass and the sheep and are now running toward the shed. However, workers tell them they don't have enough grass and must go back.
Laurance and Zac, in second place, have just reached the Detour.
Andy and Tommy refill their grass bags, get those and the sheep to the shed and start filling the buckets. Laurence and Zac are filling the bags full of grass and are right behind the snowboarders.
Amani and Marcus seem lost in the cab and are lingering in last place.
Andy and Tommy finish first and get their next clue: Go to Borobudir Temple and get their next clue.
Meanwhile, the other teams start arriving at the Detour. Jennifer and Justin are in third.
Kaylani and Lisa go to Rice Field, as do Liz and Marie. Bill and Cathi go to Grass Fed.
Amani and Marcus are still in the cab searching for the restaurant.
Andy and Tommy arrive at the temple. They must go through the international entrance, where they put on a sarong. They then walk through some gardens and climb the temple to learn their Road Block: Count Buddhas.
They teams must search the temple for the four various Buddha statues, each type with a different hand symbol. In addition to counting them, they must also figure out they must perform the hand symbol to get their next clue.
Liz and Marie just finish Rice Field. They're in third place. Amani and Marcus have just arrived at the Detour and opt for Grass Fed.
Jeremy and Sandy are in fifth place. Ernie and Sandy are in sixth place. Both teams leave for the temple.
Amani and Marcus get discouraged when the worker tells them they need more grass, so they decide to go to Rice Field and start planting 300 rice seedlings.
Marcus tells the camera that he realizes they're terribly behind everyone else. So he knows they've got to speed things up.
Back at the temple, Laurence and Zac have the right numbers for the four different types of Buddhas but they don't yet have the hand symbols down. They're neck and neck with Andy and Tommy.
Kaylani and Lisa are in third place. Liz and Marie are fourth place.
Jeremy and Sandy's cab breaks down a kilometer from the temple. They decide to run the rest of the way, like they've got much choice.
Most of the teams are now at the temple, counting Buddhas. Amani and Marcus have just finished the Detour and head to the temple.
Laurence and Zac just figured out both the number of Buddhas and the hand symbols. They get the clue to this leg's Pit Stop and are in first place. Andy and Tommy are right behind them in second place. When the snowboarders leave the temple, they spot Amani and Marcus and decide to tell them the right answer. However, Amani says that she can't remember it after climbing the temple.
Teams must now search for the Pit Stop on the grounds of the temple. Laurence and Zac find it first, but Phil tells them that they used too many buckets during the Detour and have a 15 minute penalty.
Andy and Tommy are second to arrive, but they reach the Pit Stop within that 15-minute penalty and are first place. They win a trip to Dubai.
Laurence and Zac wait out their penalty and are second place.
A few of the teams have just figured out they need to know the hand gestures as well as the number of Buddhas. Marcus now laments that he didn't listen to the snowboarders closer when they tipped them off.
Some of the teams are working together while Marcus is doing it by himself. Bill of Bill and Cathi haven't gotten it right yet.
The teams seem to be getting it right at the same time and they're all collaborating, except for Bill and Cathi. Bill then nails the right answer and he and Cathi race off to the Pit Stop. Jennifer and Justin are right behind them.
Everyone now has the Pit Stop clue, except for Marcus, who then gets the clue.
Jeremy and Sandy are third place.
Many teams still have to return to their cabs, get their bags and pay their fare. Jeremy and Sandy didn't have to, because their cab broke down a kilometer ago. Amani and Marcus also already dealt with their cabbie, which could help them out.
Justin and Jennifer are fourth. Ernie and Cindy are fifth.
Amani and Marcus, seemingly behind for the majority of this leg, come in sixth.
Bill and Cathi are seventh. Liz and Marie are eighth.
Kaylani and Lisa are last place. They are eliminated from the Amazing Race.
