Kiss me, I’m Irish.
No, really. Thanks to my Irish grandmother, St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. Fortunately, I’ll have lots of ways to celebrate on the nightlife scene this year. Here are some of the highlights. Unless otherwise noted, these specials are for Saturday night.
Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Pub, 1037 Broadway, opens at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and will serve Irish food as long as supplies last. Expect beer specials and green beer throughout the day. A cover charge of $7-$10 will start in the late afternoon.
Scruffy Murphy’s this weekend will host performances by Na Buachaillí, an act that hails from Ireland. The musicians perform at 9 p.m. tonight (free) and Friday ($5), plus on Saturday beginning in the afternoon.

Illusions, 6499 Veterans Parkway, has a “St. Patrick’s Day -- Best of Both Worlds” party that starts at 3 p.m. Saturday and goes through the night. Outside vendors will sell jewelry, cosmetics and more. Food available throughout the day and night. Expect bands and DJ music.
Cover is $5 inside and the party will also feature drink specials, beads and a $500 cash drop at midnight.
The Shanty Shack, 4475 Warm Springs Road, hosts St. Patrick’s festivities Friday and Saturday. Action starts at 3 p.m. Friday. Expect drink specials and music from DJ Attack (9 p.m. Friday) and DJ Hennessey (9 p.m. Saturday). No cover all weekend.
SoHo Bar & Grill, 5751 Milgen Road, offers music by Stereomonster, drink specials, party favors and complimentary Irish stew. Cover is $5, music starts at 10 p.m.
Spicoli’s, 5762 Milgen Road, will have music from Smith & Stephens, green beer and other drink specials. A $5 cover starts at 9 p.m., music starts at 10 p.m.
In addition to Scruffy Murphy’s, many downtown Columbus bars will offer St. Patrick’s Day specials.
Among the options: Mix Ultra Lounge, 1107 Broadway, will have green beer, beads, free party favors and a “find the four-leaf clover contest.” DJ Bray and DJ Alvin D will spin top 40, hip-hop, house and electro tunes. No cover before 9 p.m. After that, it’s $5 for women and $10 for men.
Also at Mix before 9 p.m., expect deals like $5 pitchers of green beer, $5 for a dozen wings and $5 “you call it” drinks.
The Loft, 1032 Broadway, has drink specials like Dublin sour appletinis, Irish flag margaritas and more. Bibb City Ramblers CD release party. Cover charge is $10 for the comedy show from 8-9:30 (reservations recommended), $5 for 9:30-1:30. Music starts at 9:45 p.m.
Bootleggers, 1039 Broadway, will have entertainment from the Chris Collins Band Friday and Saturday. Friday, doors open at 9 p.m. and cover is $8. Saturday, acoustic music starts at noon and Chris Collins Band performs later. An $8 cover starts at 9 p.m.
Oxygen, 1040 Broadway, will have drink specials and DJ music. Doors open at 8 p.m. and cover is $5.
The party at the Uptown Vault, 1026 Broadway, will feature a kissing booth. Cover will be at least $5. Action starts at 8 p.m. Don’t forget your lip gloss.
Belloo’s, 900 Front Ave., will offer Irish drink specials and a cigar special this weekend. Music from The Relics starts at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Cover is $5.
