Like many adults, I'm craving a spring fling.
No, not the kind of "Girls Gone Wild" adventure that leaves you with a lost cell phone and a lifelong fear of blackmail-worthy photos appearing online.
I'm just talking about a casual escape -- and perhaps a temporary reprieve from the age-induced health woes that have ignited a feud between my stomach and sugary drinks.
Unfortunately, my fantasy escape probably won't happen.

So I'll settle for the next best thing: a weekend with entertainment options strong enough to make the local club scene a coveted getaway.
I'm eyeing three standout nightlife options: Latin Fuzion night at Mix, Yo Gotti at Illusions and Acollective at The Loft.
Latin Fuzion night
Earlier this week, DJ Alvin D and I bonded over music, dancing and a shared area code. He's the main DJ at a new event that debuts at Mix Ultra Lounge this week. Like me, he lives in Columbus but has a West Coast area code.
After attracting a strong fan following on the West Coast, DJ Alvin D is now at the center of the new Latin Fuzion night at Mix Ultra Lounge (1107 Broadway, Columbus).
The event is every Thursday. No cover before 9 p.m. Free salsa lessons 8-9 p.m.
"The fusion part of it is the mixture of music we're going to be playing that night," DJ Alvin D told me. Expect reggaeton, salsa, bachata, merengue and top 40.
Yo Gotti at Illusions
On his website, Yo Gotti offers this advice for aspiring musicians: "If you've got good music and you've got a grind, you make a demand for yourself."
The rapper, known for hits like "We Can Get It On," comes to Illusions (6499 Veterans Parkway, Columbus) Saturday night. Tickets are $35 advance, $40 at the door (subject to increase). Doors open at 9 p.m. Call 706-566-2000 for VIP information.
Yo Gotti grew up in Memphis and tells fans, "From where I come from, you could be dead or in jail. So I wasn't expecting anyone to do anything for me."
In addition to his Columbus show, the rapper is preparing for his 2012 Road to Riche$ tour, which starts in May.
Acollective at The Loft
You don't like Latin fusion and you don't like rap. How about an Israeli pop/rock band? Acollective performs Saturday at The Loft (1032 Broadway, Columbus). Saturday's cover charge at The Loft is $10 for the comedy show from 8-9:30 p.m. (reservations recommended), $5 for 9:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Music starts at 9:45 p.m. Call 706-596-8141 for reservations.
The venue hosts Friday entertainment from Peggy Jenkins & the Bizness. Cover is $5.
