Summer camp guide for 2012

Parents, you don’t have to listen to your kids complaining that they’re bored during summer break. Use this guide to find the perfect summer camp to keep your children busy all summer.

Boys & Girls Clubs Summer Programs: Enrollment is open for the 2012 program at all local area Boys and Girls Clubs now through Aug. 3. Clubs are open 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Activities include field trips, swimming lessons, arts & crafts, computer lab and more. 706-596-9330.

Summer Camp Benning: The National Infantry Museum. July 9-13 for Level 3, for ages 9-15 and July 23-27 for Level 1, for ages 9-13. All camps begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Each camp costs $150 and includes a camp T-shirt, individual dog tags, a book and snacks and lunch. For details, call 706-685-5814.

Sensational Sculpture: Explore the Museum’s sculptures and produce your own three-dimensional pieces.Ages 5-7: July 9-13.

Mixed Media Madness: Learn about mixed media works and unlesh your imagination as you construct your own works of art. Ages 8-10: July 23-27.

The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus: 1002 Victory Drive. Several overnight camp experiences called "Summer Nights at the Museum" will be held on July 6 and Aug. 3. The overnight adventure begins at 6 p.m. Friday and parents pick up their campers at 10 a.m. Saturday. Campers will sleep inside the museum on the replica of the USS Hartford or outside on the deck of the replica of the USS Water Witch. Cost is $20 per child. And if a parent also wants to attend with his/her child, it’ll cost $30. Call 706-327-9798.
