Nov. 13: LaGrange Symphony Orchestra performs 'Courage and Concertos' with violist Roberto Diaz

The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra's “Courage and Concertos” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Callaway Auditorium. The program features violist Roberto Diaz performing Telemann’s Viola Concerto in G major and Bartok’s Viola Concerto. The second half of the program is a salute in honor of the service and sacrifice of the 22 million American veterans. Selections include Rodgers’ Victory at Sea and a stirring rendition of the Armed Forces Salute featuring the LaGrange Symphony Chorus.

Díaz holds the position of President and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music. He follows in the footsteps of renowned soloist/directors such as Rudolf Serkin, Gary Graffman, Efrem Zimbalist and Josef Hofmann. He's a former principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Members of local Boy Scout troops will present the colors to open the concert. Scouts will also lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and present the flags of the armed forces during the musical salute to veterans.
