Funeral arrangements set in Columbus for TikTok star Marquay Collins. Public invited

Funeral arrangements for Marquay Collins, the Columbus native who became a TikTok star, have been scheduled.

A viewing will be Dec. 6 from noon to 5 p.m. at Abundant Life Full Gospel Outreach Church, 6001 Buena Vista Road in Columbus, according to Lamb’s International Funeral Home. Visitation for family will be from noon to 2 p.m., followed by visitation for friends from 2-5 p.m., at the church. The funeral, open to the public, will be Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. in the Columbus Civic Center, 400 Fourth St.

Collins, 24, was pronounced dead Nov. 26 at his residence, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer.

Known as marquaythegoat on TikTok, Collins had over 7 million followers on the social media platform.

Bryan said Collins had been involved in a car accident Nov. 7 in Atlanta and was sent to the hospital but was released the same day. He shared a video that appeared to be from the scene of the crash, according to his TikTok page.

After returning home, Collins complained of headaches, neck, shoulder and spine pain, according to Bryan. He said Collins also complained to his brother about shortness of breath.

The cause of Collins’ death is undetermined, Bryan said. Collins’ body was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Decatur for an autopsy. The case is under investigation.

Asked for an update Thursday, Bryan said the autopsy report isn’t available yet.

Collins went to Shaw High School and studied at Georgia State University, according to his Facebook page.

An account on GoFundMe.com is raising money to pay for his funeral expenses. As of noon Thursday, $16,530 from 782 donations had been raised toward the $20,000 goal.

Abundant Life pastor Delta Outley told the Ledger-Enquirer the public is welcome to attend the funeral.

“We just want to celebrate him,” she said. “It’s been difficult for the family and those who knew him.”

Ledger-Enquirer reporter Kelby Hutchison contributed to this story.
