Award-winning musical artists will perform Mother’s Day concert in Columbus

Award-winning R&B artists Dru Hill and Tamar Braxton will perform in Columbus.

The Columbus Civic Center has announced them as the headliners for a May 10 concert titled “An Intimate Mother’s Day Celebration.”

Doors to the civic center will open that evening at 6 p.m. Showtime is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $50 to $175 in advance and from $60 to $185 on the day of the concert.

About Dru Hill

Dru Hill rose to fame in the 1990s as a boy band from Baltimore. Known for hits “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” “Never Make a Promise” and “How Deep is Your Love,” the group has sold over 40 million records and topped the Billboard Music charts multiple times.

The band’s honors include four Billboard Music Awards in 1997, two Soul Train Music Awards in 1998 and the Urban Music Icon Award in 2022.

To celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary, Dru Hill’s concert tour features all past and present members.

“Alongside founding members SisQo, Nokio, Jazz, and the latest additions Smoke and Black from the R&B group ‘Playa,’ former member Scola rejoins the dynamic lineup,” the Dru Hill website says. “The group has exciting surprises in store for its expanding fan base everywhere.”

About Tamar Braxton

Born in Severn, Maryland, Braxton rose to prominence in the 1990s as a member of The Braxtons, a group she founded with her four sisters, including Toni, who left in 1991 to pursue a solo career.

After launching her own solo career with her self-titled debut in 2000, Braxton’s “Love and War” album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and received three Grammy Award nominations in 2013.

Braxton’s other honors include two Soul Train Music Awards in 2013 and the BET Centric Award in 2013. She has sold over 2.5 million albums, and her songs have been streamed nearly 300 million times.
