Noah Wyle Reacts to Supriya Ganesh's Shocking Exit from ‘The Pitt'

Noah Wyle is speaking out about Supriya Ganesh's departure from “The Pitt.”

Wyle - who serves as star, writer, and executive producer of the hit HBO Max series - told Variety on the red carpet at PaleyFest on April 12 that Ganesh's departure mirrored the real-life events unfolding in an ER.

“It's an inevitability that's going to happen every season with this show because as writers we're hard-pressed to figure out what a lapse of time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together realistically,” he explained.

“Emergency rooms have a high revolving door," he added. “As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the storylines fresh, but obviously Supriya has been a huge part of our show since the beginning.”

While Ganesh, who stars as senior resident Dr. Samira Mohan, is set to exit "The Pitt" following the show's second season finale on April 16, Ayesha Harris, who plays night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, will be promoted to series regular.

The Emmy winner called Dr. Mohan "a beloved character," adding, "I love playing with her and working with Supriya. We wish her all the best in her next endeavors, and we're going to miss her.”

"The Pitt" creator R. Scott Gemmill also spoke to Variety about Ganesh's departure, explaining, “It's sort of the nature of the show. Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you come in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try and be as truthful to that process as possible. So we're going to turn over our cast.”

“But I think it's a great launching pad for people and that's the best we can do," he continued.

In addition to Ganesh, fans were rocked when news broke in July 2025 that Tracy Ifeachor - who starred as Dr. Heather Collins - would return for the show's second season.

At the time, Wyle told Deadline that the cast “loved” having the actress being part of the first season.

“We enjoyed having her with us very much,” he said. “She’s gotten really big and we will miss her.”

‘The Pitt’ airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO Max.
