Free family activities this week at patriotic event in Columbus. What to know

The U.S. 250 Freedom Tour is scheduled to arrive in Columbus this week.

On Thursday and Friday, the tour will provide the Chattahoochee Valley with a free patriotic celebration as part of its 50-state journey commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.

The local event will be at the Columbus Civic Center Amphitheater. Family activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with live performances starting at 7 p.m.

The activities will include:

  • Freedom Village, featuring Colonial reenactors, artisan demos and hands-on history activities
  • Live music and patriotic programming on the Freedom Main Stage
  • Family-friendly attractions, including Kids Zone, crafts, Market Square vendors and interactive exhibits
  • Nightly fireworks to close both evenings.

“Visitors can interact with blacksmiths, weavers and costumed Founders, and participate in interactive workshops designed to bring American history to life for every generation,” the news release said.

The U.S. 250 Freedom Tour is a nonprofit initiative produced in collaboration with Moms for America. For more information, visit us250tour.com.
