Paul McCartney Has Another Reason to Celebrate ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane'
Paul McCartney is still influential in the U.S., and that’s a point that was just proven by the showing of his new album, “The Boys of Dungeon Lane.”
On Monday, June 8, the album entered the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart, marking his 22nd top-10 album. “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart its first week out.
For its debut week, McCartney pushed 63,000 equivalent album units of the set to hit No. 5. Out of that total, 59,500 came from full album sales, and that pushed “The Boys of Dungeon Lane” to No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.

The album also debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. Official Chart. Following that news, the musician took to social media to thank his fans, stating on Facebook, “Guess what? Our album is Number 1! Can’t get much higher. And we are well chuffed.”
He added: “My team and the whole gang of people who worked on this thing, they have done a fantastic job, so thank you to all of them. And thank you to all of YOU who bought it! And thank you to me!”
Even in his 80s, McCartney seems like he’s just getting started. In a chat with NME, McCartney said he wasn’t planning on retirement soon, stating, “I remember when I was 50 years old, my manager at the time said, ‘Well, are you thinking of retiring?’ I went, ‘Uh, I don’t think so.'”

He added of the songwriting process: “It’s still a great achievement to sit down with, let’s say, my guitar and there’s nothing there, and I’m just noodling around, and suddenly, maybe after three or four hours, I’ve got a song.”
