Daniel Radcliffe Enjoys Rare Date Night at 2026 Tonys With Partner Erin Darke

Daniel Radcliffe and Erin Darke‘s long-term romance was built on a mutual love of acting - and one memorable first encounter.

"That's a wonderful record of us flirting for the first time," the Harry Potter alum told Playboy in October 2015 about meeting Darke on the set of Kill Your Darlings. "There's no acting going on - not from my end, anyway. There's a moment when she makes me laugh, and I'm laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble."

After making a strong connection while filming a love scene for the 2013 indie film, the pair embarked on a real-life romance.

A decade after they first crossed paths, the couple welcomed their first baby in early 2023. The following year, Radcliffe won his first Tony Award and Darke was by his side to celebrate.

2012

The pair met on the set of Kill Your Darlings, in which Radcliffe played a young Allen Ginsberg. In the film, Darke's character strikes up a brief flirtation with Ginsberg, before the two share an intimate moment in a library.

January 2013

The Jungle actor and Darke were first spotted together at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where they were promoting Kill Your Darlings. "They were affectionate most of the night," a source told Us Weekly at the time, adding that she "was touching his knee" at their VIP table. "They were a little more obvious outside the venue after they were leaving."

October 2013

Radcliffe confirmed their relationship later that year, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. "Yes, I am dating someone," the Lost City star said after a caller asked if he was in a relationship. "And my type is … the type I keep private. My type is intelligent."

June 2014

The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2014 Tony Awards. At the time, Radcliffe was starring on Broadway in The Cripple of Inishmaan, which was nominated for Best Revival of a Play.

August 2014

After telling Us Weekly exclusively that the Dietland star was "absolutely" his best friend, Radcliffe explained why their relationship works so well. "I think that's the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I'm in a relationship with. You want that person to be your best friend," he said. "In the case of Erin, we definitely are."

July 2015

A video of Radcliffe and Darke rapping Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" at karaoke went viral, with the couple grinning and sharing a sweet kiss at the end of the clip. "I was obsessed with [Eminem]," the Victor Frankenstein star said during an October 2014 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "I think I was the first kid in my class to learn all the words to 'Real Slim Shady.'"

January 2018

The former child star gave a little more insight into his relationship with Darke in January 2018, revealing that she was a big fan of the beard he had to grow for the first episode of Miracle Workers. "She doesn't mind it actually," Radcliffe told Us exclusively. "Apparently I have a soft beard and it is not scratchy, so that's good. But yeah, I think [it] was a little bit too long, even by her standards."

March 2020

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, rumors that Radcliffe had tested positive for the illness hit social media, and the Swiss Army Man star had to publicly deny the reports. The reality of how he and Darke had been spending their time was much more relatable: "We decided to be super-responsible and self-quarantine so we haven't stepped out of the apartment in … 11 days?" she told Vulture, confessing that they had been keeping tally of how many days they were in quarantine.

Radcliffe added: "We're both in the situation where we've never been more grateful not to have a kid, or more annoyed that we don't have a dog. But generally speaking, compared to a lot of people, we are very, very much okay."

Radcliffe and Darke made their first red carpet appearance together in almost a decade when the Good Girls Revolt alum accompanied him to a New York screening of The Lost City.

Darke accompanied her beau to the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

October 2022

Before the premiere of the Weird Al biopic Weird, in which Radcliffe stars as the titular character, the actor spoke candidly about the "absurdity" of the movie - and how it might be received by certain people in the audience. "Actually, after [director] Eric [Appel] and Al [Yankovic], the people I'm most concerned about their reaction is probably my in-laws, Erin's dad and brother, because they're massive fans as well," Radcliffe told Entertainment Weekly, noting that Darke had already seen the film.

March 2023

Darke showed off her baby bump in March 2023. Us Weekly was first to confirm that Radcliffe was expecting a child with his longtime love.

April 2023

News broke that Radcliffe and Darke welcomed their first child. He revealed to ET three months later that the baby is a boy.

June 2024

Radcliffe won Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical at the 2024 Tony Awards for his role in Merrily We Roll Along, bringing Darke as his date to the ceremony. While accepting his trophy, he gave his partner a loving shout-out.

"You and our son are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you so much, thank you so much," he gushed.

April 2025

The twosome stepped out on April 23 for a rare date night to attend the opening of Just in Time at Circle in the Square Theatre in New York City.

May 2026

Radcliffe and Darke were all smiles alongside Katie Rose Clarke as they posed for photos at the 2026 Lincoln Center Spring Gala honoring Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey in New York City.

June 2026

Radcliffe enjoyed a night out with his partner for the 2026 Tony Awards on June 7 as he toasted to his second nomination.

"I was very confident that I was not going to win," Radcliffe told Vogue of the awards show. "I just wanted to have a great night!"

The actor won his first Tony in 2024, telling the outlet, "It felt a lot less stressful [this year]. I was just excited to have a fun, unusual date night with my partner, and watch a bunch of musical numbers."

Radcliffe - who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for his work in Every Brilliant Thing - revealed he was "happy" to be back to a more regular schedule after his show wrapped, because it meant more time with his family.

"I've been doing the show for most of the past year, so [Erin and I] have had very few date nights. It was nice to be out of the house with each other," he shared.

Radcliffe told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet that he was "very excited" to be out for once with Darke by his side as they raise their child.

"It's a date night for me and my partner," he shared. "We're out of the house together, which is always as the parents of a young child feels like an achievement."
