Mozart and the Clarinet Faculty Concert at the RiverCenter on Oct. 18

By CARRIE BETH WALLACE

Clarinetist Lisa Oberlander collaborates on Oct. 18 with a host of colleagues in "Mozart and the Clarinet," a chamber concert celebrating two of Mozart's most famous pieces for the instrument.

"Clarinetists are lucky to have a few works from the genius Mozart that feature the clarinet," writes Oberlander, the clarinet professor at Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music, in her program notes. "Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart truly mastered every genre that existed in his lifetime -- the equivalent of gold-medaling in every sport at the Olympics -- and that makes him possibly the greatest composer ever."

Oberlander writes that it's a privilege "to perform these two gems of my chamber music repertoire under any circumstances. To perform them with such esteemed colleagues in a venue like Legacy Hall at the RiverCenter is a true honor."
