The Big ToDo: Wine Women & Shoes Columbus hosts benefit for The Muscogee County Library Foundation Nov. 12

Here are 7 things to know about Wine Women & Shoes Columbus' upcoming benefit for The Muscogee County Library Foundation:

1. Wine Women & Shoes is a national organization that started more than 10 years ago. The team specializes in putting together charity events for women around the country. WW&S partners with local organizations and can act as a consultant for local event planners if needed.

2. The organization has earned more than $30 million for charities since its founding.

3. This is the first time the event has been hosted in Columbus. The Muscogee County Library Foundation directly benefits, receiving 100 percent of the proceeds. The funds will be used to provide staff for children's and teen departments in our local libraries. Funds will also assist in purchasing best-sellers and expanding the online e-book collection.

4. Wine Women & Shoes Columbus is expecting over 300 women to attend this year's event.

5. Prepare to be on your feet! The event is structured to encourage guests to stroll through the sommelier-style wine tastings and boutique shopping area. Plan to wear the pair of finest heels you have that you can actually walk in for an extended period of time.

6. The event also boasts a live auction, food tasting, an opportunity drawing, and a high-energy fashion show. It's an evening full of activities so don't plan to just drop in and dash out.

7. Wondering about their advertisement mentioning "Sole Men"? These are men from the community volunteering their time to help host the event. The Sole Men are in competition with one another to see who can raise the most money for the Foundation. Expect to see them at Wine Women & Shoes discussing wine pairings and sharing their knowledge of the shopping items available for guests to purchase.
