Here’s a list of holiday light shows across the Chattahoochee Valley

Homes and businesses throughout Columbus and Phenix City pull out all the stops when it comes to holiday light shows.

Whether it’s buying lights while the heat index is over 100 degrees or spending weeks syncing the lights to music, these huge light shows are a great addition to your must-see list this season.

If there is a light show in the community that should be added to this list, email tasmith@ledger-enquirer.com.

The Ludy Christmas Spectacular

Open from Thanksgiving night until New Year’s Eve, The Ludy Christmas Spectacular light show, 5784 Ironstone Drive in Columbus, has more than 250,000 lights synced up to holiday music.

Each light show and song takes about three to five weeks to program, according to the light show’s website. Once drivers enter the Cottonwood Subdivision and turn to FM 90.1, they will hear holiday music that matches up with the house’s lights upon reaching the top of the hill.

Something new is added to the display every year. There’s no cost to enjoy the lights, but the family takes donations to the Georgia Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

From start to finish, the entire show lasts 37 minutes, according to the FAQ page. The show plays from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Fantasy in Lights at Callaway Gardens

This annual event hosted by Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain is only 45 minutes from Columbus. Nearly eight million lights are included in all of the displays, which a visitor can view in two ways: inside of their car or inside of an open air trolley, according to Explore Georgia.

The show kicked off on Nov. 9 and runs every day through Jan. 4, 2020.

A ticket for Fantasy in Lights includes entrance into the show via trolley or car, a complimentary day admission ticket to visit Callaway Gardens during the Fantasy in Lights season, as well as access to the Christmas Village to take pictures with Santa, shopping and more, according to their website.

Ticket prices vary depending on the day and time of month:

  • “Super Prime” days: $30 for adults, $15 for children ages four to 12.
  • “Prime” days: $28 for adults, $14 for children ages four to 12.
  • “Value” days: $21 for adults, $10.50 for children ages four to 12.
  • Tickets bought on-site are $35 per adult and $17.50 for a child between the ages of four and 12.

Light on Glenview

The Ludy’s aren’t the only house in Columbus with a huge display. A home located at 5440 Glenview Drive has a huge display as well. Running seven days a week from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m., this home will have their huge display running all season long unless there’s inclement weather.

They are also collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House. Their goal this year is to raise $1000.
