Celebrate 100 years of the Liberty Theatre at this special event with star-studded guests

The Liberty Theatre in Columbus is celebrating 100 years with a special event next month.

The Centennial Gala: “The Soul of the Community” is a black-tie event celebrating the history and legacy of the Liberty Theatre, 813 Eighth Ave. The event is on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Columbus Convention & Trade Center.

The Liberty Theatre has been closed for repairs during the past year as the city replaces the roof and HVAC system.

“This is more than a gala — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime tribute to a century of culture, resilience, and storytelling,” Oz Roberts, co-chairman of the Liberty Theatre Board of Directors said in the news release. “The Liberty Theatre has given a voice to so many over the years, and on this historic night, we will honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future.”

The event will include live performances from a star-studded lineup of performers who have community ties with Columbus, including actress Donna Biscoe, Broadway performers Michael Stiggers and Willa Bost, country singer Keni Thomas, former Miss Georgia 2022 Kelsey Hollis and gospel singer Wendi Wyatt. A.J. Calloway, former host of BET’s 106 & Park, will host the gala.

Roberts told the Ledger-Enquirer it is important to have a diverse group of performers at the gala.

“We want the Liberty Theatre to be a haven for growth, for the community and for it to be very inclusive,” Roberts said.

Tickets for the gala can be purchased online at the Liberty Theatre’s website for $100. Proceeds go toward funding for the theater’s events, Roberts said.
