Hooters closes 41 locations, 4 in Georgia. See if their beer & wings will stay in Columbus

Hooters wings have become a little harder to come by for some Georgians. The national chain closed 41 locations this week. At least four Georgia locations were on the list:

  • Atlanta
  • Brunswick
  • Hiram
  • Macon

Macon found out on Facebook

Former employee, Ashley Williams, of the Macon franchise shared her story in a Facebook post earlier this week. Williams shared a video of the local Hooters employees assembled in what seems to be the store’s final staff meeting.

The Hooters corporate office shared a letter with the franchise, stating “Please trust that we did everything we could to avoid closing this location and the decision was not made lightly.”

The Macon Telegraph reports that the restaurant closed its doors on June 23, according to the letter shared to social media earlier this week.

What about Columbus?

The Columbus location, on the other hand, seems to be going strong. This week, the servers competed in a “Country Cutie” contest and they are a destination spot in town for various sporting events.

The Columbus store has also produced the winner of an international swimsuit pageant and one of the Columbus Hooters girls was featured in the yearly calendar.
