‘Bachelor’ recap: Georgia woman wins more time with Joey on group date. Here’s how she did
Game, set, match.
It’s already Week 2 of Joey’s journey to love as the newest “Bachelor,” and things are starting to heat up.
The episode opened up Monday night with a bit of drama surrounding Lauren and then showed Joey playing tennis with Jesse Palmer.
Then Joey got down to business.
Here’s the recap:
Wedding group date
Joey wasted no time finding a bride in this episode because the group date was wedding-themed.
Rachel, Taylor, Kelsey T., Lexi, Evalin, Erika, Maria, Lauren and Jess all got dressed in white, met Joey in his black tux and headed to their very own wedding reception.
Yes, all nine ladies acted as Joey’s brides during the reception. What could go wrong, right?
Well, actually, all the women did play nice. And Rachel even got to have the first dance with Joey.
At the cocktail party, things got a bit heated with the women, as Maria seemed to steal the show with her scantily clad outfit change as well as Lauren’s emotional day.
Georgia girl, Lexi, was on the group date as well, but she didn’t get a ton of screen time, which I was personally bummed about.
Jess ended up getting the group date rose because she had a heavy talk with Joey about her past relationships.
A date with Daisy
Daisy received the very first one-on-one date of the season. She told the other women how excited she was, but she also shared her anxiety over telling Joey about her hearing loss.
The date began in typical Bachelor fashion: a helicopter ride. Snuggled in close, the couple took in the sights of the city below and they even shared a kiss in the sky.
Then Joey took Daisy to a music festival, where they played games and danced.
At dinner, Daisy shared about her health issues, hearing loss and Lymes Disease diagnosis. She even showed Joey her cochlear implant. His reaction? He told her it makes her all the “more beautiful” and “more impressive.”
The pair ended the night with a sweet rooftop dance and another kiss.
It’s probably needless to say, but yes, Joey gave Daisy a rose, making her safe for next week.
Bachelor boot camp
The next group date had Joey shirtless and sweaty. So, no complaints here.
Kelsey A., Chrissa, Autumn, Jenn, Madina, Allison, Edwina, Katelyn, Marlena and Starr also got sweaty because it was a boot camp-style group date.
Georgia girl, Edwina, gave it her all in this challenge, as she immediately got dirty and fought for the big win during the group date.
So, in return for her grit, she got a one-on-one date with Joey.
“This is perfect,” she said. “I’m so excited and I’m here to get my husband.”
During their date, the pair held hands and chatted about Edwina’s upbringing.
She shared that she grew up in an African household where she had to stay strong and take care of everyone else.
“I’m sure you’re making them proud everyday,” Joey told her.
At the end of the date, Joey gave Edwina a rose and a big smooch.
Cocktail party & rose ceremony
Finally, our other Georgia girl Lexi gets some screen time.
Lexi got to sit down with Joey and the pair had a sweet chat about a silly painting she made of him.
“I have such a crush on you,” Lexi told Joey.
“I have a crush on you, too,” he smiled.
Eeek. They have such good chemistry.
Then of course, more drama unfolded with Lauren and she ended up self-eliminating and leaving before the rose ceremony. I am glad about this because Lauren just seemed like too much drama anyway.
At the rose ceremony, Joey eliminated Taylor, Erika and Marlena.
The preview for next week’s episode showed Maria in the hot seat as Joey confronts her about some drama with other women in the house.
“The Bachelor” continues at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC and streaming on Hulu the next day.
