‘Love Island USA' Alum Huda Mustafa and Boyfriend Louis Russell Split
Love Island USAstar Huda Mustafa and her boyfriend, Louis Russell, have parted ways.
"We want to share that after taking time to reflect on what's best for us both, we have mutually decided to part ways for the time being," the pair said in a joint statement to TMZ on Wednesday, May 20.
The statement continued, "Huda is dedicating her time and energy to being the best mother, her music career and the exciting opportunities ahead, while Louis is focused on being the best father he can be and pursuing his future endeavors." (Mustafa welcomed daughter Arleigh with ex Noah Sheline in 2020.)
The exes noted that they "remain friends and continue to have the utmost respect and love for one another."
"During this time, we kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this next chapter of our lives," the statement concluded.
Mustafa became an internet personality when she appeared on season 7 of Love Island USA, where she placed in third with Chris Seeley. The pair split in the finale. Shortly after leaving the show, Mustafa connected with Russell.
Russell, for his part, appeared on Too Hot to Handle season 5. He also starred in season 3 of Perfect Match, which aired in 2025.
In 2025, Mustafa and Russell made headlines when they appeared to laugh during a livestream when a caller used the n-word to refer to her costar Olandria Carthen. Mustafa cut off the call and shared a public apology to "more fully take accountability for my actions."
"I want to begin by saying I completely respect Olandria, and it's extremely disheartening that anyone, especially a presumed child, would find it excusable to use this type of language, and doing so only underlines the ignorance of the gravity that such a word carries," she wrote in October 2025.
Mustafa alleged that her laughing on the livestream was "a nervous, uncomfortable reaction," sharing that it was an "inappropriate" response.
"I want to be clear that I do not condone or tolerate anyone who uses such language, and I strongly encourage the individual responsible to reflect deeply on their words and the harm they've caused," she added.
Months later, Russell's ex-girlfriend Nicole Olivera was granted a temporary restraining order against Mustafa. Olivera claimed in legal filings that Mustafa "was making threats" against her son. Mustafa denied the accusations, saying in an Instagram statement that it was "not true."
Us Weekly confirmed in March that Russell filed paperwork claiming that Olivera had "unreasonably" cut off contact between him and their son, Luka. He went on to file for an emergency court order to receive joint legal custody and a plan that would allow him time with Luka.
Earlier this month, Russell dropped his custody case. In court docs obtained by People, he requested that the case against Olivera be dismissed.
