Russell County relocates armory voting poll

Ongoing renovation at Phenix City’s 3614 S. Railroad St. National Guard Armory is forcing Russell County to move the voting poll there to a church across the street for the Nov. 8 General Election.

The poll that serves around 1,200 northwest Phenix City residents will be in the Golden Acres Baptist Church, 3405 S. Railroad St., said Russell County Probate Judge Alford Harden. All county voting polls will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST on Election Day.

Harden said the county was unaware of the armory renovation until about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The county commission is to approve the relocation during a called meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Voters will be mailed a notice of the poll change, Harden said.
