Auburn University student reports bizarre threat on W. Magnolia Avenue

An Auburn Unversity student reported two bearded men in a truck bearing Greek letters on its rear window yelled a threat and pointed a gun late Monday.

The student was walking on West Magnolia Avenue near Wire Road at 11:50 p.m. CST when the dark-colored truck with two bearded white men in it stopped.

“The passenger of the truck yelled ‘Quincy’ along with obscene language and a threat directed at the student,” reported the Auburn University Department of Campus Safety & Security. “The passenger then pointed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun at the student. The student yelled, ‘I am not Quincy,’ and the truck drove off.”

Campus Safety & Security offered students this advice:

  • Stay alert to your surroundings and walk with others, especially at night.
  • Use transportation such as the Night Security Shuttle, available 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on campus while classes are in session at 334-844-7400, Uber, or a taxi service.
  • Trust your instincts. If you do not feel comfortable, leave.
  • If you see suspicious activity, call 911 in emergencies or notify police at 334-501-3100.

Anyone with information on the suspects or their vehicle is asked to contact the Auburn Police Division at 334-501-3100 or the Crime Stoppers line at 334-246-1391.
