Central wide receiver Justyn Ross narrows college options
And then there were five.
Central rising senior Justyn Ross has college offers upon college offers, but on Sunday he narrowed down his options. Ross announced via Twitter that he is down to five schools: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Florida.
Ross broke the news by tweeting a photo of himself with the five schools logos in the background.
Ross has been making the rounds to different schools lately, attending a camp at Alabama on June 4 and taking an unofficial visit to Clemson on June 9.
The 6-foot-4, 197-pound Ross is considered the top player in Alabama and a five-star wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has 21 total Division I offers, according to 247Sports.
“Of course, the in-state (schools) will always have my interest,” Ross told BornToCompete.com. “Right now, Florida State, Clemson, Auburn, Alabama … It’s a lot right now.”
When asked about what will stand out when he makes his decision, Ross said, “I want a chance to compete for a starting position my freshman season.”
Ross will be in the national spotlight again at the end of this month. He is one of 166 high school players invited to The Opening Finals presented by Nike Football, a four-day event held in Beaverton, Ore. The program will once again give Ross the chance to show off his big play-making ability, which has been the hallmark of his time as a Red Devil.
