Columbus man dies as result of accidental wound, coroner says
A man was found dead early Saturday morning at 3308 Fourth Ave., apparently from a self-inflicted wound sustained during a domestic dispute.
Sherrod Ramsey, 37, of Columbus was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., said Muscogee County Coroner Bryant Bryan. The coroner said the man appeared to have died of a severed artery after punching a window during a dispute with a woman.
The coroner said an earlier report of two people dead from the incident was incorrect. That report was given to his deputy coroner and relayed to him. Police said the information wasn’t released by the police department.
Bryan said the call initially was a homicide and suicide but later turned into an accidental death.
