Columbus to resume regular garbage pickup Tuesday
Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson announced Monday afternoon that city garbage trucks will run their usual routes on Tuesday.
Still she urged residents not to leave their trash and recycling out overnight Monday, as winds gusting up to 40 p.m. would strew the waste down streets as Tropical Storm Irma passed through.
Monday garbage pickup was canceled because of the storm. City crews will run those routes on Wednesday.
City offices are to remain closed on Tuesday, though sanitation workers and others providing essential services are to report to work.
A Columbus Council meeting previously set for 9 a.m. will be held at 3 p.m. in the City Services Center off Macon Road. The agenda will have only time-sensitive matters.
