Clerk shot during robbery at BP gas station on Veterans Parkway
Police are looking for two robbers after the BP Food Mart on Veterans Parkway was robbed and a male store clerk was shot in the right knee, Columbus police said late Thursday.
The clerk was transported to the emergency room at Midtown Medical Center for a non life-threatening injury after the 4:45 p.m. robbery at 2317 Veterans Parkway.
Police Sgt. Harvey Hatcher said two men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, one armed with a pistol, entered the convenience store and robbed it. During the holdup, the armed robber fired two shots and one struck the clerk.
Police sealed off the entrance of the gas station with yellow crime tape while officers swarmed the area to search for possible suspects. The armed robbery remains under investigation, Hatcher said.
