Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis drafted by NFC South team
Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft Friday. Davis is the third Tiger taken in this year’s draft after the Indianapolis Colts chose Braden Smith and the Detroit Lions took Kerryon Johnson.
Davis started in 32 games in his three seasons with the Tigers, notching 138 tackles and three interceptions in that time. In his junior year, Davis was one again one of the top defenders on the Tigers defense.
Davis’ efforts earned him first team All-America (SI.com), first team All-SEC (coaches) and second-team All-America (Walter Camp, AP, AFCA).
Davis was the 9th cornerback taken in this year’s draft and second chosen by the Buccaneers in the second round. Tampa Bay chose North Carolina's M.J. Stewart with the 53rd overall pick.
