Woman charged with prostitution in Winston Road operation

A 54-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday during an undercover operation for possible prostitution at Winston Road and Head Street.

Cynthia Banks of Columbus was charged with one count of prostitution at 3:15 p.m. She was held in the Muscogee County Jail for a 2 p.m. Thursday hearing in Recorder's Court.

A member of the Special Operations Unit was operating in the area of Winston Road on possible prostitution when a agent approached Banks near Head Street. During a conversation with the undercover agent, Banks agreed to perform oral sex for $20 , police said.

She was taken into custody for alleged prostitution without incident at the scene.
