Offense: The offense will be turned over to quarterback Taylor Bennett this season. Bennett will spend a lot of time handing off to tailback Tashard Choice, who rushed for 1,473 yards and 12 touchdowns a season ago. Wide receiver James Johnson had 608 yards receiving and scored seven touchdowns.
Defense: Former Shaw standout Philip Wheeler leads the Jackets’ defense from his linebacking position. Wheeler had 89 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 9 of which were sacks. First-team all-ACC safety Jamal Lewis returns to anchor the secondary. He had 74 tackles and three interceptions.
Can’t miss game: Nov. 24, vs. Georgia. The Jackets have lost six straight in the series to their archrival. No matter how many other games they win this year, this is the one the Jackets want the most.
