There's little that's more relaxing that kicking back in a bench seat, bag of popcorn in hand, and watching a baseball game. But the chances to do that without a drive to Atlanta are waning, so I'll get out to see the Catfish on Friday night. They play the Savannah Sand Gnats at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $5
Saturday, the Kentucky's Dirt Poor Robins — a duo with a sad, pretty sound, perform at the SoHo Bar & Grill. Dark, low-key indie pop is just my thing, so I'll take in that show. Aranda opens the show around 10 p.m., and there's a $5 cover. Details: 706-568-3316.
After the hot baseball game and the hot club, some quality air conditioning is in order, so a movie's in order. My wife's a big surf nut, so we can head to the Peachtree 8 discount theater and catch either "Surf's Up" — the cute penguin surfing mockumentary — or "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer."
