The Liberty Theatre opens the 2008-09 season with "Flyin' West," by Atlanta-based author and playwright Pearl Cleage.
Auditions for the play will be 6:30-8 p.m. July 21-23 in the Liberty Theatre, 821 Eighth Ave. The show dates are Sept. 19-21 and Sept. 26-30.
Director Eddie Stiles is looking for a cast of six actors: Frank Charles, a 36-year-old bi-racial male; Minnie Dove Charles, a 21-year-old African-American woman; Fannie Dove, a 32-year-old African-American woman; Miss Leah, a 73-year-old African-American woman who was born into slavery; Wil Parish, 40-year-old African-American male of strong stature; and Sophie Washington, a 36-year-old African-American woman.
Auditions are not by appointment, but if you're schedule is tight, he will honor appointments. But you must be at the theater 10 minutes before you assigned time. If you're late, you'll be considered a walk-in and must wait your turn.

All actors must have a prepared dramatic monologue that is 1-2 minutes long.
