Melissa Blue said her relationship with her husband, Michael, has been “outside the box.” So having cameras follow her for the week leading up to their wedding wasn’t that big of a deal.
So when Melissa first contacted WeTV’s hit show “Bridezillas,” she didn’t expect an immediate response. But the show contacted her three days later saying they were interested in filming her wedding.
Melissa, who confessed that she “watches (the show) all the time,” said that Michael was afraid to propose to her because he knew that’s the kind of bride she would be.
And he couldn’t have been too scared.

After four months of dating, Michael popped the question.
The couple received confirmation from “Bridezillas” about two weeks before their Jan. 11 wedding date. They frantically got all the papers and release forms signed by their family and wedding party. Melissa said they didn’t have much planned for the week before the wedding, but she ended up having four dress fittings.
“The entire bridal party has to be with you the week before the wedding (for the show),” she said. “It brought the wedding party itself closer.”
Melissa said it also made things more hectic than it would have been otherwise.
She was required to sign a release giving WeTV permission to use any and all the footage taped; the Blues have no control over how the footage is edited.
They don’t even get to see the episode until it airs, which is planned for June.
Even though there were some things that Melissa would rather not have people see, like some of the arguments and the “sweet moments,” she enjoyed the experience.
And Melissa noted that at one point during the filming, she and Michael broke off their engagement.
“The experience added a special little touch to me and Michael’s wedding,” she said. “It’s fun to step outside the box.”
Melissa, 28, has lived in Columbus most of her life. She is a customer service representative.
Her husband, Michael, 25, also of Columbus, is a machine operator.
The couple, which married less than a year after becoming engaged, is expecting their first child in October.
Season six of “Bridezillas” premieres in June.
Melissa and Michael are expecting their episode to be among the first of the season; but they will not find out the exact air date until May.
