With matching initials, I took some ribbing in grade school. Not sure why that's why they targeted me instead of one of the easier targets: my stature and the glasses I wore.
Anyway, in honor of all those punks, I'm making this week's picks a triple B of fun.
"Blade Runner": The formative Ridley Scott sci-fi film turns 25 this weekend, and I'll celebrate by tracking down a DVD copy of the quieter, director's cut without all the gumshoe narration.
Blasting down the highway: I'm getting a new car on Saturday — well, it's an ’04, but it's new to me. So I'll probably take it on a joyride up to Pine Mountain, which is one of my favorite stretches of road. And heck, I might even park the car and walk a bit of the Pine Mountain Trail while I'm there.
- Buchanan, Kelly: She's a singer-songwriter from Boston, but rather than a more typical, lilting wallflower's voice, Buchanan's got an aggressive, take-no-prisoners belt. $5 at The Loft, 1032 Broadway. Music starts around 10 p.m.
