You know, Michael Phelps is 23. He should know better. He's in a generation where all his peers have cell phone cameras.
Like it or not, he's a celebrity and he ought to know that he cannot do anything without being documented by someone with a camera phone.
If it were me, that's one thing. I'm always surprised that someone is actually using their phone to take a picture. Me, I take out my digital camera. I do have a phone with a camera that I can take both stills and video. I rarely take pictures. And I've never, ever taken a video.
Maybe I should start using it for other than making phone calls.
Because of these pictures that have shown up showing him smoking pot from a bong, he may have a problem keeping his endorsement deals.
And what about all those little kids who looked up to him?
I'm beginning to think Charles Barkley was right. He took a lot of flack for saying he was not a role model. Parents should be a child's role model, not celebrities. He's right.
So if your child is looking up to Phelps, maybe you should sit him or her down and explain that Phelps is a kid himself and makes mistakes. But at 23, he really should know better than to smoke pot at a party. At a university!
