It's a few years old, but "The Village Barbershop" is a sweet movie about love, loss and moving forward.
And it highlights an even sweeter relationship between the crabby old man who runs the barbershop (John Ratzenberger - Cliff Claven from "Cheers") and the spunky pregnant girl who was just left by her trashy boyfriend and needs work.
It's pegged an indie comedy and while there are some laugh-out-loud scenes, it's mostly about how Art (Ratzenberger) and Gloria (Shelly Cole) help each other take the next step when they seem stuck.
He hires her as his partner even though he's looking for a male barber and refuses to cut women's hair and she pushes him to allow change in his life.
It got good reviews on the festival circuit and, like most things I watch these days, is currently streaming on Netflix.
