So, I'm back from my week of sipping mai tais and ready to wow you all with some keen observations.
The first of which is, do people really watch Glenn Beck? Really? I have to admit, I never watched the guy at all until this past week, when I saw him ranting about stuff he didn't understand and lying about it at the same time.
For example, he spent an inordinate amount of time, false superiority dripping from his lips, lambasting the Obama administration for going on the offensive against Fox News. What amused me the most is that Beck completely missed the metagame that the White House is most certainly playing.
Beck maniacally explained to his viewers that you can't win a fight against someone who buys ink by the barrel. Yeah, yeah, whatever, don't fight with the media, you'll lose.
But as this guy theorizes, and others have recently written about, Obama isn't lashing out against Fox News. The attacks are a method of making Fox the face of the Republicans, thus marginalizing them even further and making their chances in 2010 that much less.
Who cares if the loyal Fox viewers swell in ranks and Glenn and Rush make even more cash? As long as Obama stays in power, he could care less and his method of attacking Fox may very well work.
Of course, having the economy do a 180 wouldn't hurt either.
