No matter where I go, people are always asking when I'll be back on the Springer Opera House stage. I think chances are slim to none. I had a really tough time during the run of "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" in 2005. That was the last time I was on that gorgeous stage.
I think I'm way too old. I know that Raymond Campbell, Jack Osteen and Jimmy Motos are still acting and singing and they're older than I am. But they're retired and they can rest during the day!
If you're itching to get on that stage, and if you're older than 16, the required season auditions for the 2010-11 season are may 24-26.
All actors who audition have to be 16-years-old on their audition day to be considered for a role. The children and younger teens who want to be in a play can do so at an audition in the fall.
All actors and singers need to sign up for a five-minute time slot between 6-11 p.m. May 24-26 in Foley Hall, 1016 First Ave. The dancers' audition is 7-9 p.m. May 27. But if you're a dancer, you still have to do the season audition to be considered for a show.
You need to have a prepared, memorized monologue about one minute long. Monologues can be from published plays, monologue books or original material, but should show off your abilities.
For a musical, you need to prepare 16-32 bars of a song that showcases your musical ability and vocal range. Bring sheet music, an accompanist will be available.
For the dancers' audition wear dance attire and shoes and be prepared to stay until 9 p.m. There will be two categories: actor/mover and dancer.
