I'm watching "Nightline" on ABC and there's a profile on Padma Lakshmi.
I knew she is the host of "Top Chef." She's gorgeous, and was once married to author Salman Rushdie. That's about all I knew about her.
Tonight, I've learned that she was a model who walked the runways for top designers like Ungaro, Versace, Cavalli, Ralph Lauren and Ferretti. And she was a favorite of the late photographer Helmut Newton.
She dabbled in acting and wrote cookbooks before joining "Top Chef" in its second season, replacing Katie Lee. Lee recently was divorced from Billy Joel, though I'm sure that has nothing to do with her losing her job.
Lakshmi is now a single mother of three-month-old daughter, Krishna. She has declined to name the baby's father, though it's been reported that it's Adam Dell, the brother of Michael Dell, who founded the Dell company, who makes computers.
Anyway, like I said, she's gorgeous, smart and talented. She must be a robot.
