HBO's vampire saga returns at 9 p.m. Sunday. "True Blood" ended its second season with Bill (Stephen Moyer) being kidnapped right after asking Sookie (Anna Paquin) to marry him. He went missing before he heard her answer. On the third season premiere, Eric (Alexander Skarsgaard) and Sookie try to find Bill. Joining them is a werewolf, newcomer Alcide (Joe Manganiello).
I've read a few reviews of the season premiere that suggest the season gets off to a slow start, but I'm not worried. Setting up new plot lines and introducing new characters takes time.
What I'm more worried about is planning a menu for a viewing party where vampires are drinking blood and people are being murdered. Watching violence and gore doesn't exactly make one hungry. At least I hope not.
I'm thinking Bloody Marys are a perfect cocktail and Red Velvet Cake is a delicious dessert. Any good Southern food would be regionally accurate. But, if you're going to serve some fried chicken and deviled eggs with okra, I'd do it before the show starts.
