Here we go! The top 10 show kicks off with some backstage footage. Simon and Ellen awkwardly kiss. I'm eating some delicious vegetable lo mein tonight. Will my noodles be more exciting than the performances? We'll find out soon.
In some pre-show footage, mentor Usher promises to be brutally honest. Watch out, Garcia. "They made it here, but this isn't the finish line," Usher says. He didn't teach them to dance, though. You can't learn that in one sitting, he says.
Frist up, it's Siobhan Magnus, who says she's "wicked nervous" to work with Usher. He's surprised by the strength of her voice and advises her on her wardrobe. He tells her not to go overboard.
Siobhan sings "Through the Fire" by Chaka Khan. Surprising song choice. Meh. I'm not too impressed. This song just seems too old for her. Sorry. I know I stole that line from Randy, but it's true. Vocally, it's decent at points but often a little shaky. Naturally, we get the predictable screams at the end. I don't know...it seems like the first time this season Siobhan has entered lounge singer territory.
Randy: "It was a little all over the place for me...It wasn't your best performance at all."
Ellen: "I love you, but I thought it was not your best performance."
Kara: "Your lower register...it wasn't strong enough...At the end of the day, you're still a great singer."
Simon: "It was so all over the place." He adds it sounded like she was out of breath. "You're kidding yourself if you think that was a good performance." Simon calls the effort "manslaughter."
Oh man. Siobhan looks like she's gonna cry.
