It's a Wonderful Life
I left work a little early today to go see "It's a Wonderful Life" at the Springer Opera House.
I have to admit I've never seen the entire movie. I've seen bits and pieces of it, but I've never sat through the entire movie.
Frank Capra directed the 1946 classic movie that starred James Stewart and Donna Reed. Lionel Barrymore (Drew's great-uncle), who is the "villain" of the movie. We had to laugh because his name is Harry Potter!
The policeman is Bert and the cab driver is Ernie. Another thing that had us giggling.
The Springer began its Classic Movie Series back in September with "Gone With the Wind," followed by "Psycho" on Halloween. "It's a Wonderful Life" was tonight and "White Christmas" is next Tuesday.
These are movies that most of us have never seen on a theater screen. It's ever so much better on a big screen. Even the biggest television screen is no match.
I'm planning on being there next Tuesday for "White Christmas."
We were thinking of other movies the Springer could show: "The Sound of Music," "The Music Man," "Citizen Kane" and "White Bitch Down." Just kidding the last one, but Jon Hill's short film is a hoot!
It's $10 and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and you can have popcorn and candy in the saloon.
Call 706-327-3688.
