Today is Pi Day: What does 3.14 mean to you?
I've always been an arts-and-literature minded person. My husband is all about math and science. I guess that's a typical female/male stereotype.
I remember shortly after we first met, he told me that in high school he had memorized Pi to the 23 decimal (or something outrageous like that). I was impressed, but didn't really see the point.
Pi is just really important to some people.
Which is why today, 3/14, is Pi Day - the first three digits of Pi are 3.14.
On the official website you can buy Pi-related shirts, coffee mugs and a clock; send e-cards for today's nerdy celebration; or find activities you can do to celebrate everyone's favorite mathematical constant.
According to Wikipedia, Pi Day was established in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw and National Pi Day was declared by the U.S. House of Reps in 2009.
Want to get your favorite geek something to commemorate the day? ThinkGeek is always a good place to start (they have tons of fun, un-Pi-related stuff, too).
How will you celebrate Pi Day?
