Erika Van Pelt, the mobile DJ/wedding singer who underwent an extreme hair makeover this week, was kicked off "American Idol" Thursday night.
Heejun Han and Deandre Brackensick joined her in the bottom three.
Erika advanced to this phase of the competition as one of the judges' "wild card" picks. She's a strong singer, but often seemed too old-fashioned to connect with the "Idol" audience. In an attempt to win the judges' "save" Thursday, Erika sang "I Believe in You and Me." The judges declined to save her.
So Erika leaves the show on the same week she debuted short black hair -- the result of an "Idol" makeover that transformed her long blond locks.

Thursday's results show also featured performances by Lana Del Ray and "Idol" alum Haley Reinhart. Joe Perry of Aerosmith showed up to wish Steven Tyler happy birthday. (For the record, Lana Del Ray's performance was much better than her "Saturday Night Live" appearance, but still sort of baffling.)
Nine singers remain in the competition: Joshua Ledet, Colton Dixon, Heejun Han, Deandre Brackensick, Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone.
Discussion time, "Idol" fans: Did the right singer go home this week? And is Erika Van Pelt a better singer than Lana Del Ray?
