The David E. Grange best Ranger Competition is scheduled for April 13-15 at Fort Benning, officials said.

Established in 1982, the grueling  competition challenges two-man Ranger teams in physical conditioning, Ranger skills and team strategies. Rangers perform the tasks over a 60-hour weekend with little sleep and food.

Past competition events have included weapons firing, extended road marches, land navigation courses, Rangers skills and parachute jumps. The events are timed and each team scores points for each completed event.

Last year, 50 teams started the competition but only 31 finished. Many were knocked out during the road march and other events.
